My good friend Zoe Blue has been busy busy busy with paints and scissors. I’ve been giving Zoe an on-line maquette-making tutorial and today she’s sent me photographs of the figures she’s created that have absolutely blown my socks off! I think that my work here is done because she’s already made the technique completely her own, romping away after a hesitant start to create these lovely, lively dancers.
Brava Zoe. I greatly look forward to seeing how you use the maquettes in your drawing practice. Ten out of ten for these creations. You’re clearly my star pupil!

Absolutely fabulous. (Catching up now, Clive, after an awe-inspiring trip to Iceland and a whirlwind 10 days in London with friends and art and more art!)
I saw your blogged images of the British Museum. How I love that place!
Glad to hear that you’re safe home from your travels.
Wonderful! Brava Zoe and Bravo Clive. I’m inspired too and certainly will be doing some maquetting shortly.
Maybe we can make an animated video out of the creations of everyone who will join this maquette marathon?
Well we’d got as far as thinking we’d do an online maquette exhibition, but maybe an animated film would be an interesting thing to do!
Fresh, fun and fabulous!
These are excellent! Unfortunately I’ve not had time to try a maquette myself yet but seeing these has spurred me on again.
Don’t put it off Chloe. Paul Bommer and I are hatching a plot to have an online exhibition of maquettes on the Artlog. We think that it would be a rather fine thing to do!
Oh yes, that would be lovely!
These are fabulous. I love The woman, she’s such a little minx!
Oh Zoe, these are wonderful. Positively bristling with zesty sauce and cheeky salt. Quite delicious! (I am inspired)
Hello, Zoe–
Grand job of re-inventing the maquettes, though using Clive’s methods! I enjoyed these very much and wonder if anybody else will step up and make some. (I’d like to see a Bommerian maquette!)
These are gorgeous.
Yes! A Bommerian maquette – now there’s an idea!
Then do it! (There’s a challenge thrown down!)
yes, yes!
I love these!!
Quite charming and saucy, very delightful.
Thom, Leonard… I’m glad you like the maquettes. Zoe is cultivating quite a fan base on the strength of these figures, and quite rightly so too! (-;
It is so much fun to see those 2 dancing and I can feel how much fun Zoe had making them. It is brilliant of you Clive to have provided Zoe with some artistic tips, this whole experiece is wonderful and joyful:)
Wow! They are absolutely amazing!
thanks, bev, anita, julia, florence and vesna for your generous comments. these maquettes are for a painting to go with a story vesna’s writing, so watch out for the tale they were born from
thank you so much, clive; i can’t stop smiling
Brava, Zoe!
Oh, these are brilliant – something to make one smile on a wet day!
Superb! A born maquette-maker if ever there was one!
Florence, Julia, Anita and Bev, I thank you all for your enthusiastic comments. Zoe has done a great job here. I can almost hear the tango-players and feel the heat of the dancers!
oh, definitely not born
)
clive is a very thorough guide and patient teacher
but thank you so much for the kind comment!
I’m just a facilitator on this project. All the talent mustered to make these lovely tango dancers is Zoe’s alone! (-;
