It’s been a while since I’ve posted about the horses of Ty Isaf, and so I should explain that there have been some changes here. The delightful Seren, who arrived when she was just four months old, moved on in the late summer to a new home and owner. She’s since settled in well and has new friends. (I follow her progress on Facebook!) As we knew that Basil the Shetland pony would feel the loss of his companion more sharply if he were here alone, Stephanie arranged with her friend Julie for Jazz to come and lodge here.
In the months since Jazz’s arrival he and Basil have got to know each other and become friends, and so all is harmonious in the paddock and loose-box. Making the most of the autumn sunshine yesterday Julie prepared to ride out on Jazz, and she invited a friend along too.
Jazz and Del Boy head off down our drive…
… and Stephanie brings up the rear with Basil so he gets to go out too, doubling up a training session with a walk along the river bank.
Although I grew up with horses, these days I don’t keep one to ride out myself as nothing must distract me from time spent in the studio. Nevertheless I love having horses around me at Ty Isaf, and so the present arrangements suit everyone concerned. I get the pleasure of the company of these beautiful animals without the full responsibilities of ownership.
