more ceramics from the archive

Today I began painting in the sunflowers for the Annunciation. It’s been more difficult than I’d expected to pull this off. As the composition is largely in shades of blue, to begin with the warm yellow of the flowers was far too eye-catching. All afternoon I worked to pull them back, layering in cool shadows to balance things out. But by the time they were beginning to look right, it was too dark to be able to get a reasonable photograph. I’ll make good the deficit tomorrow.

So here instead as a consolation prize are a few more images from the archive of ceramics made in Pip Koppel’s pottery. (You can see that I have a bit of a thing for foliate heads!)
