These photos of the details are gorgeous in themselves, I could start a series of paintings just on what’s going on here. You’ve made sunflowers your own as you have with so many things – I’m loving this, it’s possibly my favourite colour palette ever.
It’s true that I have painted a few sunflowers now. One came up in the garden here a few years ago, probably the result of an escapee seed from the bird feeder. It grew to six feet and was splendid, turning its head to follow the passage of the sun each day. I drew it throughout its life, from youthful vigour to blackened old age, and it’s been appearing in my paintings ever since.
