Above: detail from Blind Blue Boy. SOLD

Just a day left now before my exhibition formally opens at Oriel Tegfryn, Menai Bridge. At this stage I invariably feel a sense of relief that all the various deadlines… painting, framing, delivery etc, have been met, combined with the usual anxieties about putting the work in front of the public. The invitations have been delivered, the exhibition is up, and the the whole shebang is about to roll. The opening is from 5 – 7 pm on Saturday, and all are welcome. See you there.

  1. Dear Clive.
What a pleasure to meet with you last night at what was a magical evening on Anglesey. Martin has done a wonderful job of hanging your latest works in what is a beautiful setting. I must admit to being slightly disappointed at seeing ‘Blind Boy Blue’ with a red sticker already placed. I must be quicker off the mark in future!! Anyway it was a delight to chat about Saint Herve with you – Elinor and I could have talked all night but there was such a throng of people who wanted a piece of you. We returned to Cardiff via Arenig but the clouds were down alas. This did not dampen a lovely trip to North Wales though. (I was also charmed by Jack. What an absolute cutie-I hope he has fully recovered from all the petting).
    Best Wishes.
    John

  3. Hello Clive
I don’t know if this is the proper way to message you. I have barely ever looked at a blog before, let alone subscribed to one and felt compelled to contact the owner. I came across your’s in that wonderfully tree like way that internet wanderings have, while looking for images of the puppets Paul Klee made for his son. And then found I had been looking at your site for over an hour! I’m just embarking on some puppets for a version of The Tempest we are working on. I think your work is entirely gorgeous and I wish your exhibition was not so far away – we are in Cornwall. I would love to share my puppet process as part of your online puppet event, if it is not too late to join in? Problem is, I don’t have a website or blog. Is there a way round this? Maybe it will just make me get my digital shit together and start one. I am looking forward to looking more at your site. It feels like a lovely big book waiting to be opened. I hope your exhibition goes well. I am sure it will.

    Very best wishes,

    Jude Munden

    • Hello Jude.

The Artlog Puppet Challenge is a very informal affair, and we are happy to welcome a late arrival, thought in the absence of a website or blog, you should e-mail me so that I have a contact address. You can reach me from HERE.

The guest-curator is Peter Slight, and though he hatched the ‘Challenge’, we’ve worked on it together. The deadline for entries is end of June. If you want to see all the posts on the subject from the past months, just type Puppet Challenge in the search box, and click.

  4. I also meant to say that every painting looks brilliant, it’s a wonderful show. I had a good look through the catalogue. Isn’t the internet marvellous? So glad we live in these times, when we live so far apart, yet can feel as though we are still participating in each other’s lives. Once again it’s a damned good show, xxL

  5. I only had time to press the ‘like’ button earlier on, I now have time to send you our very best wishes, and good luck, and to say ..enjoy! We’ll be thinking of you, much love from L&G

  6. Congratulations on “Blind Blue Boy” and “Flight” and “my” Glimmerglass dragon being sold! Very exciting to have some pre-sales, and I suppose you may get more. Red dot polka-dot fest to come!

    • Thank you, Jacqui. My hair’s cut and my shirt’s pressed. Peter will be back from Cardiff this evening. Jack is waiting for the off. (He met Carole and Sara at the gallery when we went up on Monday to deliver the work, and is already best friends with them.) So, chocks away!
